Rironsha was founded in 1947, in the aftermath of World War II, with a vision of “sowing seeds of richness” in a devastated Japan. Over time, those seeds sprouted and blossomed into a wealth of children’s literature that nurtured young readers. In fiscal year 2024, we published 69 new titles: 35 picture books and storybooks, and 34 books that support learning. Many of the storybooks were volumes in ongoing series that have continued to attract loyal readers. At the same time, classic titles such as Chocolate War, first published in 1973, remain in print and continue to be read today.To date, seven series totalling 69 titles have been translated and published overseas by international publishers.
