MATES Universal Contents was founded in 1999 as the MATES Publishing Company and assumed its current name on its 20th anniversary in 2019. Currently, it publishes a broad array of genres, including hobby, pets, art, children’s books (elementary and junior high school), music, and business. As a publisher, its social mission is to provide practical, accessible information in an easy-to-understand way, and publications by Mates Universal Contents stand out for their simplicity, conciseness, and reader-friendly content for even the most complex of subjects, boasting plentiful pictures and illustrations across all genres. Since 2017 it has been actively seeking to export international rights, with a focus up to present on arranging translation rights in Asia.
